Guadalupe-Reyes Marathon

Is the name given to the period covered Dec. 12 to Jan. 6, totaling 26 days. It covers numerous celebrations of Mexican culture, ranging from those on December 12 (day of the apparitions of the Virgin of Guadalupe), the holidays or inns (from 16 to 24 December), only after going through 13 prepares December 15, through the celebration of Christmas Eve (December 24) and Christmas (December 25), the year-end party on 31 December and New Year celebrations (January 1) and finally the Day Reyes (January 6). There is no competition or rules defined in this marathon, but is named after a series of festivities resemble marathon in more than half of those 26 days. This name became popular during the eighties of the twentieth century in the form of marathon sessions, within the stipulated period, where we feel a little in excess and abuse in food intake, many of which are typical as the so called "rosemary" and turkey or turkey usually served at dinner on Christmas Eve and New Year, and beverages, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. People who started this "marathon" usually do competitions to see who gets to stay in this marathon.
